Squid Announce 'Town Centre' EP With New Single The Cleaner

Squid have shared a new song alongside news of their 'Town Centre' EP.
The seven-minute The Cleaner is inspired by moving from Brighton to London and finds the post-punk, disco-funk quintet laying down a funky backbeat over angular rhythms similar to those heard on previous singles The Dial and the disco-punk Houseplants.
"The Cleaner is a lost acquaintance, one that we’ve spent the last year trying to get to know… tirelessly working and turning up whenever needed," the group say. "We work for the money to spend our time doing other things. The Cleaner imagines the divided work and play structure and thinks about breaking from it."
The track heralds the band's upcoming EP, 'Town Centre', which is set to arrive on September 6 via Dan Carey’s Speedy Wunderground label — the first EP from the legendary producer's singles label. A physical release will follow on November 15. The Cleaner will be joined by tracks Savage, Match Bet and Rodeo.
Squid have several summer festival dates remaining in the diary, including appearances at Bluedot later this week, plus sets at Latitude, Green Man, and End of the Road, to name a few. They also have a handful of headline dates confirmed for the autumn.
