Bon Jovi have dropped a charity single.
Released in collaboration with the Duke of Sussex — aka Prince Harry, their 2019 song Unbroken has been reworked to include the Invictus Games Choir. It was recorded in February at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios with producer John Shanks.
Lyrically, the track explores the experience of soldiers suffering from the trauma of war via swirling guitars and rousing lyrics sung mainly by Jon Bon Jovi. All proceeds from the single will go to the Invictus Games Foundation, which aids the recovery and rehabilitation of international military personnel. Prince Harry said:
"With military people, there's a way of being able to talk about the scars of war in a positive way. Some suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress, some of them suffer from depression, anxiety, but they are stronger for it. Those are the kind of ambassadors and role models that we need."
Jon added:
"Well, I thank you for what you've done to bring a light to that. It's what you’re doing, really. I just got inspired to write a song from it… It's touching, their desire to serve and what they gave, and what they get out of singing."
The New Jersey band will drop their new album, 'Bon Jovi 2020', the follow-up to 2016's 'This House Is Not For Sale', on May 15 via Island Records. They're expected to hit the road with Bryan Adams in the summer, providing the coronavirus pandemic doesn't scupper their plans.
