As the title suggests, Quarantine was written during the COVID-19 lockdown and arrives after the pop-punk band shared the song's cover artwork yesterday (August 6). Writing on Twitter, Blink teased: "100 RTs and we release this song Friday." Check it out below.
The blistering two-minute, skate-punk track is a scathing reflection on the state of the world during the coronavirus pandemic, with the band singing: "Quarantine, fuck this disease. I'd rather be on Star Tours or stuck at the DMV. Quarantine, no, not for me. I thought that things were fucked up in 2019. Fuck quarantine."
Quarantine comes less than a year after the band's latest album, 'Nine'. In May, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker revealed during an interview with MTV that Quarantine would be the first song released from a new EP.
"We’re wrapping up what we think will be an EP that hopefully will be out by the end of summer," he said. "There’s a song called Quarantine that's gonna come out really, really soon. It’ll be a Blink favorite. It’ll be like all our fan favorites. It’s incredible."
Barker recently released his own single, Forever, which saw him team up with rap duo Run The Jewels — check it out here. He's also been busy producing Machine Gun Kelly's new album, 'Tickets To My Downfall'.
