Simple Minds have announced their 18th studio album.

The follow-up to 2018's 'Walk Between Worlds' is called 'Direction Of The Heart' and will arrive on October 21. It was recorded at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, with production assistance from Andy Wright.

The news comes accompanied by the new single Vision Thing, which was written by guitarist Charlie Burchill, with lyrics from frontman Jim Kerr. The anthemic, electro-rock track finds the band at their most confident over pounding drums and pulsing synths, while paying tribute to Kerr's father, who passed away in 2019.

Simple Minds will play the first day of two BBC Radio 2 Live In Leeds concerts on September 17. It'll follow their ongoing European tour, which wraps up with two gigs at Edinburgh's Princess Street Gardens in August. The second show will feature a full performance of the band's 1982 LP 'New Gold Dream', with proceeds being donated to UNICEF's Ukraine Appeal.

The Scottish group's summer schedule also includes a gig at Audley End House and Gardens in Saffron Walden on August 13 as part of the Heritage Live series, along with a headline appearance at Nocturne Live.

'Direction Of The Heart' tracklist:

1. Vision Thing
2. First You Jump
3. Human Traffic
4. Who Killed Truth?

6. Act Of Love
7. Natural
