Will Butler + Sister Squares Post New Single Arrow Of Time

Will Butler + Sister Squares have shared a new single called Arrow Of Time.
Following Willows and Long Grass, it serves as the latest preview of the group's self-titled album, due out on September 22 via Merge.
Anchored by a bass groove, the song offers two distinct styles, with passages of soft, airy instrumentation shifting to moments of raucous, percussion-heavy rock. It was inspired by Errol Morris' Stephen Hawking documentary A Brief History Of Time.
"Hawking describes the concept, in paraphrase, as 'you might see a teacup fall off a table and smash into bits, but you never see the bits come back together. Or if you did, you would instantly be aware that time is running backwards,'" Butler said in a statement.
"Lyrically, I feel like I was maybe trying to write a Pixies song about that idea — 'Here comes your man,' but instead of something coming, it’s just everything slowly dissolving into heat energy."
Will Butler + Sister Squares will support the record with North American, UK and Ireland shows this autumn.
