Rush's Geddy Lee Shares Unearthed Solo Tracks Gone And I Am… You Are

Wednesday, 06 December 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Rush's Geddy Lee has shared two previously unreleased solo songs.

Gone and I Am… You Are come from the writing sessions of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee, lead vocalist, bassist and keyboardist's 2000 solo album, 'My Favourite Headache', which was co-produced by Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and multi-instrumentalist Ben Mink.

Recorded during Rush's hiatus between 1997 and 2002 with Lee co-producing again alongside Mink, and David Bottrill, the two tracks, released collectively as 'The Lost Demos', have been dusted off and dropped onto streaming platforms.

The former is a slow-burning acoustic guitar-led rock ballad with strings, while the latter is a more hypnotic, mid-tempo synth-assisted track. Lee commented:

"I’m excited to see these to lost demos released - I loved the songs when they were written and in some ways they feel as fresh and perhaps more relevant all these years later."

Lee is currently in the middle of a tour in support of his new memoir, My Effin’ Life, with a run of UK dates set to begin on December 10. His new Paramount Plus four-part docu-series, Are Bass Players Human Too?, premiered yesterday (December 5).

In 2024, Rush will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their self-titled debut LP, 'Rush', with details of various celebrations to be revealed soon.
