Noah Kahan Teams Up With Sam Fender For New Version Of Homesick

Noah Kahan has joined forces with Sam Fender for a new version of Homesick, a track from his 2022 album 'Stick Season'.
The updated recording finds the North Shields singer-songwriter contributing to the guitar-driven song's second verse, offering a new perspective on the emotions that come with being away on tour for too long through heartfelt lyrics. Kahan commented:
"When I first heard Sam Fender’s music, I stopped what I was doing, started Dead Boys from the beginning, and listened four more times. It was everything I loved about a song. I followed this artist like a crazy person, checking every day to see if he had dropped new music. Reading every lyric and looking for his interpretation of what they meant. I must have listened to Hypersonic Missiles 1,000 times before 'Seventeen Going Under' came out, and I had never felt so connected to a song.
"I come from a very different place than Sam did, that much was clear in the lyrics, but it felt like I had grown up the same. The nostalgia, pride, bitterness, confusion, and anger that Sam wrote about feeling was so similar to what I was feeling about my childhood and my hometown at the time. This song was the final push for me to start writing about my own experiences."
Fender recorded his verse in Newcastle after meeting Kahan on tour in 2023. He said:
"Noah actually came to my hometown of Newcastle when he was on tour, so we met up and I showed him around. I found it canny funny and flattering as he said in his east coast American accent, ‘I wanna see where these songs came from man’, so we hit the Lowlights Tavern for a swift Guinness and walked in the bitter cold of the sea-front. Chatting with him about things in both of our pasts made me realize how universal Homesick is. We’ve all been that kid."
Homesick is the latest of Kahan's 'Stick Season' tracks to be turned into collaborations, following Everywhere, Everything with Gracie Abrams, Hozier on Northern Attitude, Kacey Musgraves on She Calls Me Back, Lizzy McAlpine on Call Your Mom and Dial Drunk with Post Malone.
The Vermont singer-songwriter is currently touring Australia before heading to UK and European arenas in February as part of his We'll All Be Here Forever Tour. Following spring and summer dates across North America, he'll return for further UK and European shows in August. Tickets are on sale now.
Fender's most recent album, 'Seventeen Going Under', topped the UK Albums Chart upon its release in 2021.
