Disclosure And Pa Salieu Team Up For New Single King Steps

Thursday, 28 November 2024 Written by Jon Stickler

Disclosure and Pa Salieu have collaborated for a new single, King Steps.

Arriving via Disorder and Capitol Records, the high-energy track combines the British-Gambian rapper's quick-fire, in-your-face bars with the dance duo's clubby beats inspired by UK garage. Disclosure's Guy Lawrence explained:

"We’re excited to continue showcasing the darker, harder side of our sound with King Steps. UK Garage has always been a core influence in our music, and it’s incredible to see its impact growing so much over the past year. Collaborating with Pa Salieu—who’s delivering some of the best music coming out of the UK right now—makes it the perfect time to release this track."

Salieu shared: "I’m an Afrikan Alien, and I know that garage music isn’t a genre people might expect me to jump on—but that’s what being an alien is about, moving from planet to planet, sound to sound. I stepped into Disclosure’s world and together we created an atmosphere that blends where we’re both coming from. That is true collaboration."

Pa Salieu joined Disclosure on stage to perform the single live during their Manchester Warehouse Project show last month.

It follows the Lawrence brothers' October single Arachnids, their Chris Lake collaboration in2minds, which came out in September, and their Grammy Award-nominated summer hit She's Gone, Dance On. They released their latest album, 'Alchemy', in 2023, which was followed by a remix edition earlier this year.

Pa Salieu, meanwhile, has dropped several singles and a mixtape titled 'Afrikan Alien' since being released from prison in September.
