The original line-up of Black Sabbath have announced they will reunite this summer for their first performance together in 20 years.
The heavy metal pioneers — Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward — will headline a special concert billed as Back To The Beginning on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham.
The show will see 76-year-old Osbourne, who has battled health problems including Parkinson's disease in recent years, play his own short set before joining with Black Sabbath for what will be his final performance. He said:
"It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning... time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever."
Support will come from bands Black Sabbath have inspired, including Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, Lamb Of God and Mastodon.
There will also be a performance from a "supergroup of musicians" featuring Duff McKagan and Slash of Guns N' Roses, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and more that you can view on the poster below. More names are still to be revealed.
The all-dayer was announced at Villa Park by Osbourne's wife, Sharon, and his Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi (pictured).
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on February 14, and all profits from the show will support Cure Parkinson's, the Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorn Children's Hospice, a Children's Hospice supported by Aston Villa.
Formed in 1968, Black Sabbath (known as Earth at the time) played their first ever show at The Crown Inn on Station Street in Birmingham, less than four miles from Villa Park. They went on to become one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all time, selling over 75 million albums worldwide. Their final studio album is 2013's '13'.
