'Sentient' comprises 11 tracks, three of which are previously unreleased, and will arrive through Candid Records on March 28, following up 2021's 'Blessings And Miracles'.
Head below to hear the first single, a new version of the legendary guitarist's 2009 song with Smokey Robinson, Please Don’t Take Your Love, which fuses funk and soul while focusing more on the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's guitar work-out. Commenting on the track, Santana said:
"I went to the studio and did my own thing. I said, 'Let's just roll it.' I did another take with Smokey, sort of guiding me. Smokey loved them both, so he wound up combining the two. What's on 'Sentient' is the first version."
The LP also features collaborations with Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Miles Davis, Paolo Rustichelli, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Cindy Blackman Santana. On the tracklist, which includes recordings that date back to the '90s, Santana added: "I'm always driven by passion, emotion and inner instinct. When I first heard these tracks floating around in the house, I said, 'Why don’t we put these all in one place?'"
Santana and his band will kick off their Oneness Tour with US shows in April, before another leg of dates for his ongoing Las Vegas residency, An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live. The European leg of the tour will take place in the summer and includes shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, Manchester’s Co-Op Live and the O2 Arena in London between June 18 and 21.
