Sheryl Crow Shares Protest Song The New Normal

Monday, 21 July 2025 Written by Jon Stickler

Sheryl Crow, alongside her touring band The Real Lowdown, has released a new single.

Titled The New Normal, the rock track tackles themes such as fake news, artificial intelligence and political chaos, specifically slamming the twice-impeached, current US president Donald Trump and his leadership style, referring to him as "the leader of the free world". In a statement posted to Instagram, the nine-time Grammy-winner said:

"What’s happening all around us is so unbelievably bizarre, that my fear is we will truly begin to feel like this is normal. And that’s what terrifies me.

"I am so blessed to have the band that I have. For years, we have jammed up such cool stuff during sound checks that we decide we go in and start recording as a band. Can’t wait for everyone to hear the new stuff we are doing."

The New Normal follows the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's recent song I Know, released in May to mark Mental Health Awareness Month. Before that, she collaborated with James Bay on You And Me Time, a track from the deluxe edition of the British artist's 2024 album, 'Changes All The Time'.

Crow has a number of US shows in the diary for the coming months, including multiple dates supporting Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan on the 10th anniversary of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Tickets are on sale now.

She released her most recent album, 'Evolution', in March 2024, which was followed by a deluxe edition later that same month and a live record 'Lights So Bright (Live Toronto '95)' the next month.

Sheryl Crow Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows

Tue August 12 2025 - SPRINGFIELD Illinois - Illinois State Fairgrounds Il State Fair (USA)
Sat August 16 2025 - TORONTO Ontario - Great Canadian Toronto (Canada)
