Mayday Parade Announce New Album 'Sad' With Lead Single Under My Sweater

Mayday Parade have laid out plans for the second instalment of their 20th anniversary album trilogy.
'Sad' will arrive on October 3, following up the first release of the three-part project, 'Sweet', back in April. While its predecessor leaned into anthemic pop-punk, the new record will act as a counterpart, embracing a softer, more introspective tone. It was helmed by the band's long-time producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount.
As a preview, the Florida five-piece have shared the reflective new rocker Under My Sweater, which serves up heartfelt, emo-inspired songwriting befitting the 'Sad' title. Vocalist Derek Sanders said:
"It’s difficult to sing about a sweater without invoking Weezer, but that’s part of what I love about this song. Under My Sweater wears its inspirations on its sleeve and feels both a part of old school nostalgic emo as well as something modern and a step forward for Mayday Parade."
The trilogy serves as the band's eighth studio album and follows 2021's 'What It Means To Fall Apart'.
They'll take their Three Cheers for Twenty Years Tour to Australia next month, with shows lined up in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth.
Following that, they'll support All Time Low on the Maryland pop-punk band's Everyone's Talking! Tour, which hits North America this fall, before dates across Europe and the UK early next year. They'll also appear at When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas on October 18 and 19. Tickets are on sale now.
