Fat Freddy's Drop To Celebrate 21st Anniversary Of 'Based On A True Story' With 2026 Tour

Fat Freddy's Drop will celebrate the 21st anniversary of their debut album, 'Based On A True Story', with tour dates throughout 2026.

The Wellington band will perform in Australia first, with two shows apiece lined up at Sydney's Enmore Theatre and Melbourne Forum in March. Next up, they'll play their home country of Aotearoa (New Zealand) in May, again pulling double duty at Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre, Christchurch Town Hall and Auckland Town Hall.

They will take the tour across Europe in both the summer and autumn, with the latter leg preceding their run in the UK. They've confirmed stops in Bristol, Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow and London, where they'll headline Alexandra Palace on October 23.

Tickets for the UK, Europe and Aotearoa (New Zealand) go on general sale at 10am local time on October 28. The Australian dates go on sale the same day at 9am.

The tour will be the band's first without Chris ‘MU’ Faiumu, their founding member and leader, who passed away suddenly this summer. Joe Dukie said: "It’s important for us to honour the intentions we had with MU and playing this album live is part of that." Chopper Reeds added:

"This was the band’s first full length studio album and its success was the springboard for what has been an incredible journey together. We want to pay tribute to the music, to MU and the band he established. And, of course, to play to our fans around the world who have supported us through everything."

Fat Freddy's Drop released their latest album, 'SLO MO', in 2024.
