Mariachi El Bronx, the Mexican mariachi alter ego of punk-rock band The Bronx, have announced a new album.

'Mariachi El Bronx (IV)' will arrive through ATO on February 13, marking the band's first proper studio release since 2014's 'Mariachi El Bronx (III)', though since then they've put out two records of unreleased b-sides, covers and live tracks, and a live LP.

Across its 12 tracks, the new album finds the band telling stories of gamblers, ex-playboys, warriors, and lovers. Commenting on the writing process, lead vocalist Matt Caughthran said sessions, "started as a battle between love and death but became a way to process all the chaos of the world."

Alongside the announcement, the Los Angeles band have shared the record's opener, Forgive Or Forget, which combines driving rhythms with acoustic guitar, a brass section, and guest violin from Ray Suen, who has previously worked with Childish Gambino and Lorde. Caughthran describes it as about someone, "who's completely dishevelled and a little washed out, looking back on their life in a way that's kind of hazy. There's a little bit of hope there, but it's pretty dark."

Mariachi El Bronx will support the LP with a run of four shows across Southern California and Mexico over the coming months. Head here for details.

1. Forgive or Forget
