Nas and DJ Premier have announced the title, release date and artwork for their long-awaited collaborative album.
'Light-Years' will drop on December 12 via the Nas-affiliated Mass Appeal Records, marking the seventh and final instalment in the label's Legend Has It… series of albums from iconic New York hip hop artists.
So far, the rollout has included Slick Rick's 'Victory', Raekwon's 'The Emperor's New Clothes', Ghostface Killah's 'Supreme Clientele 2', the partially posthumous Mobb Deep album 'Infinite', Big L's 'Harlem's Finest: Return Of the King', his fifth and final studio album and fourth posthumous release, and most recently, De La Soul's 'Cabin In The Sky'.
The Grammy-winning Queens rapper first teamed up with the legendary producer over 30 years ago on his 1994 debut album, 'Illmatic'. They reunited throughout the next decade on tracks such as I Gave You Power, 2nd Childhood, Nas Is Like, N.Y. State Of Mind Pt. II, and most recently on last year's Define My Name, the first teaser from the new album.
Nas has also appeared on the Legend Has It... albums from Raekwon, Mobb Deep, Big L, and Slick Rick.
He previously joined forces with producer Hit-Boy for a run of collaborative albums, including the 'King's Disease' trilogy — 2020's 'King's Disease', 2021's 'King's Disease II', and 2022's 'King's Disease III' — and the Magic trilogy; 2021's 'Magic', and 2023's 'Magic 2' and 'Magic 3'.
