Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton have expanded their previously announced summer UK tour with the addition of two new UK dates and a bunch of European gigs.
The London singer-songwriter and band — Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher — will be joined by the renowned American guitarist, singer and songwriter for new shows in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Belgium and Italy, where they'll perform at Umbria Jazz Festival, between June 5 and July 12.
He has also confirmed a second London show at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on June 20, which will follow his Royal Albert Hall performance on June 15, and a concert at Brighton Dome on June 12.
The summer run will also include previously announced stops at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Portsmouth Guildhall and the O2 City Hall in Newcastle.
Tickets for the new dates go on general sale from 10am local time on Friday (February 6). The other shows are on sale now.
The trek is billed as Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello, and will see Costello, The Imposters and Sexton performing tracks from early in his career, from 1977's 'My Aim Is True' to 1986's 'Blood & Chocolate', with some surprises thrown in. Costello said:
“For any songwriter, it has to be a compliment if people want to hear songs written up to fifty years ago. Among them, ‘Radio Soul,’ the first draft of what eventually became ‘Radio Radio'. You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure.
"Don’t forget this show is “Performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters”, an ensemble which includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new. They are nobody’s tribute band. The Imposters are a living, breathing, swooning, swinging, kicking and screaming rock and roll band who can turn their hands to a pretty ballad when the opportunity arises.”
The summer shows will fall alongside their previously announced support slots with Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts on their UK and European tour, which includes an appearance at the new State Fayre festival in Chelmsford, Essex.
Costello's most recent album is the 2024 collaborative record 'The Coward Brothers' with T Bone Burnett, which followed up his last solo LP, 2022's 'The Boy Named If'.
