Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton will head to the UK next summer.
The London singer-songwriter and band — Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas and Davey Faragher — will be joined by the renowned American guitarist, singer and songwriter for shows at Birmingham Symphony Hall, London's Royal Albert Hall, Portsmouth Guildhall and the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on June 13, 15, 26 and July 6, respectively.
The trek is billed as Radio Soul!: The Early Songs of Elvis Costello, as was his summer and fall North American trek, and will see Costello, The Imposters and Sexton performing tracks from early in his career, ranging from from 1977's 'My Aim Is True' to 1986's 'Blood & Chocolate', plus some surprises. Costello said:
“For any songwriter, it has to be a compliment if people want to hear songs written up to fifty years ago. Among them, ‘Radio Soul,’ the first draft of what eventually became ‘Radio Radio'. You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure.
"Don’t forget this show is “Performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters”, an ensemble which includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new. They are nobody’s tribute band. The Imposters are a living, breathing, swooning, swinging, kicking and screaming rock and roll band who can turn their hands to a pretty ballad when the opportunity arises.”
The new dates will fall alongside their previously announced shows supporting Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts on their UK and European tour next summer, which includes an appearance at the new State Fayre festival in Chelmsford, Essex.
Costello's most recent record is the 2024 collaborative record 'The Coward Brothers' with T Bone Burnett, which followed up his last solo LP, 2022's 'The Boy Named If'.
