Black Midi Frontman Cameron Picton's New Group My New Band Believe Announce Debut Album

Cameron Picton of black midi has announced a new project called My New Band Believe.
The bassist has also revealed that they've recorded their debut album, with the self-titled release slated to arrive on April 10 via Rough Trade Records.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared an exclusive non-album single titled Numerology, an experimental free-jazz whirlwind of acoustic guitars, horn flourishes and catchy vocal harmonies with elements of dance and psych-pop. It'll feature on a bonus 10" and a limited edition deluxe CD packaged with the full album.
The band will play Rewire Festival at The Hague in the Netherlands on April 11, followed by their debut tour this spring, beginning in Glasgow on April 28 before stops in Leeds, Manchester, London, Bristol and Cambridge, wrapping up in Oxford on May 6. They also have North American dates scheduled from May 29 to June 7. Tickets are on sale now.
The project marks Picton's first since black midi's split in 2024. Alongside Geordie Greep, he served as lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in the band, which released three albums; 2019's 'Schlagenheim', 2021's 'Cavalcade' and 2022's 'Hellfire'.
Sadly, last month black midi's guitarist Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin passed away aged 26. A statement shared at the time by his family said he passed away, “after a long battle with his mental health. A talented musician and a kind, loving man finally succumbed; despite all efforts. He will always be loved. Please take a moment to check in with your loved ones so we can stop this happening to our young men.”
