The Strokes have officially announced their new album.
After sharing a teaser video to social media that sent fans into a frenzy, they have now confirmed that 'Reality Awaits' will be released on June 26 via Cult Records/RCA Records. It was recorded in Costa Rica with renowned American record producer Rick Rubin, who also helmed the New York band's previous LP, 2020's 'The New Abnormal'.
Alongside the news, they've also shared the record's first single, Gone Shopping, which finds frontman Julian Casablancas delivering vocoder vocals atop a laid-back indie-rock soundscape led by a recurring, playful riff and skittering beats. The track was initially sent out on cassettes to a limited number of fans on their mailing list.
The Strokes have a number of US festival appearances in the diary for the spring and summer, including Coachella in California this weekend and next, Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee in June, Outside Lands in San Francisco and Just Like Heaven in Pasadena in August, and Shaky Knees in Atlanta and Sea.Hear.Now in Asbury Park in September.
