Cat Power has announced a tour of Australia and New Zealand for later this year.
The trek will see the American singer, songwriter and musician, real name Chan Marshall, celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of her most acclaimed albums, 'The Greatest', kicking things off in Auckland on November 26 and wrapping up in Perth on December 11, with stops in between in Wellington, Brisbane, Geelong, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Canberra.
Support at her Melbourne show on December 3 will come from two special guests, US singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews and local band Hedge Burners. Tickets for all dates go on general sale at 9am local time on Friday (June 19).
Power will also mark the record's milestone with shows across North America this summer, followed by UK and European dates in the autumn. Tickets for those gigs are on sale now.
In addition to the tour, Power also released a special three-song 'Redux' EP in January, reuniting with her touring band Dirty Delta Blues, comprising guitarist Judah Bauer (The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion), keyboardist Gregg Foreman, bassist Erik Paparozzi and drummer Jim White.
She released her latest album, 'Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert', in 2023. The Bob Dylan covers record captures her 2022 performance at the London venue, where she recreated Dylan's May 1966 concert at the Manchester Free Trade Hall. Early bootlegs incorrectly attributed the recording to the Royal Albert Hall, so it became known as the Royal Albert Hall Concert.
