Alabama Shakes Announce Third Studio Album And First In Over A Decade 'I Must Be Dreaming'

Alabama Shakes have outlined plans for their long-awaited third studio album.
The Grammy-winning American blues-rock trio will release 'I Must Be Dreaming' through Island Records on August 28, following 2015's 'Sound & Color'.
Alongside the news, the band have shared a teaser trailer for the album, which was written following the band's reunion in late 2024. It was produced with six-time Grammy-winning Shawn Everett, recorded in Nashville at Sound Emporium Studios and Blackbird Studio, and blends soulful, psychedelic sounds with themes of love, life, death, human connection and the challenges of modern life.
It'll include Alabama Shakes' previously unveiled singles, American Dream and Another Life, with a third track, I Feel Hope Coming, to be shared this Friday (July 10).
"This younger generation makes me feel hopeful because they can see through all the political lies—that song's about holding onto that hope, and refusing to give up," vocalist-guitarist Brittany Howard said of the song.
Guitraist Heath Fogg added: "I'm really happy that song exists. It came from such a joyful moment of collaboration, and exemplifies everything I love about this band being reborn."
To support the album, Alabama Shakes are currently touring across Europe and appear at NOS Alive in Portugal and Bilbao BBK Live in Spain this week. They'll tour North America for the remainder of the summer, including a landmark debut show at New York City's Radio City Music Hall on September 2, four co-headline performances with Tedeschi Trucks Band and select stadium dates supporting Zach Bryan, with the trek set to wrap up with a performance Ohana Festival in California on September 26. Tickets are on sale.
Since their last album, Alabama Shakes have released a 10th anniversary edition of their 2012 debut, 'Boys & Girls', while Howard has put out two solo albums, 2019's 'Jaime' and 2024's Grammy-nominated 'What Now', as well as 'Live From Austin City Limits'. She also contributed music to the soundtracks for Thelma the Unicorn and Honey Don't!.
