Blossoms Add Leeds First Show To Winter UK Arena Tour Due To Demand

Blossoms have added a show in Leeds to their winter UK arena tour.
Due to demand, the Stockport indie giants will take the stage at the First Direct Arena on December 3 as part of a run playing their largest shows to date. Other stops on the tour include Cardiff's Utilita Arena, London's Alexandra Palace, Manchester's Co-op Live, Birmingham's Utilita Arena and Glasgow's OVO Hydro between November 26 and December 11. Support throughout the run will come from special guests The Royston Club.
Ahead of the tour, the band will play Belfast's Ulster Hall on November 23, followed by Dublin's 3Olympia Theatre on November 24.
Tickets for their new Leeds show go on general sale at 9.30am next Friday (September 4), while tickets for their other dates are on sale now.
The announcement follows Blossoms' recent one-off hometown show at independent venue the Deaf Institute, where they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their Mercury Prize-nominated self-titled debut album with a performance of the record in full.
The set was recorded and will be released as an exclusive live double-CD edition of the band's upcoming sixth studio album, 'Songs From The Wedding Cake'. Singles already shared from the album include Meet Me In Love, Joke About Divorce and the new disco-tinged track Additional Driver, featuring Declan McKenna. The song was inspired by a minor car collision involving Blossoms frontman Tom Ogden outside Manchester's O2 Apollo. He said:
“It was a Friday night and I was picking up Katie when I had this collision. The police were just there to make sure we exchanged details, but from the outside it looked like a full-on incident to the people going to the gig opposite at the Apollo. Just as I’m passing my driving licence over, I get a tap on my shoulder from a 21-year-old kid who just said, ‘Sorry mate, can I get a selfie?’ I obviously had to say yes, but the police and the woman involved had no idea what was going on."
The follow-up to 2024's 'Gary', the subsequent 'Gary's Covers' album and last year's deluxe edition is set for release on October 2 via ODD SK/Distiller Records.
