Yeah Yeah Yeahs Release 'Hidden In Pieces Live At The Royal Albert Hall' Album And Short Film

Yeah Yeah Yeahs have released a new live album and a companion concert film. 

'Hidden In Pieces Live At The Royal Albert Hall' primarliy captures the New York indie-rock trio's 2025 show at the iconic London venue as part of their Hidden In Pieces Tour, alongside recordings from performances in San Diego, Chicago and New York.

Released via Secretly Canadian Records and featuring 13 tracks, the album is currently available on digital streaming platforms, with physical editions and an expanded digital deluxe version following on October 23. Lead vocalist Karen O said in a statement:

"Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall was born out of a need to commune with our band and fan family in 2025, after the election. In the past, YYYs haven’t often chosen when to be back at it and out there, it often chooses us. It, being the times. We turn to live music when we need that specific quality of depth and light to see us through the times.

"We worked on these arrangements in February of ’25 at Sonic Ranch in an impossibly small window of time. Our string arranger Jherek Bischoff dove straight into the deep end with us as we arranged almost 24 songs for a quartet and acoustic instrumentation in less than a week.

"The stakes were high, the Royal Albert Hall was the 3rd play of the tour, most of this record is live from the hall. It was our first time performing there and the hype leading up to it was overwhelming, but ladies and gentleman we believe the hype now we’ve done it. The pipe organ moment in ‘Skeletons’ was no less than immaculate vibrations. We felt the spirits of all legends past swirling around us. Nick remarked that he felt as though his fingers were guided on the guitar neck. The real alchemy happened when we played the hall, it clicked into place. All the shows we performed on this small tour were extraordinarily vulnerable. We hope that translates."

A 22-minute visual companion film titled Hidden In Pieces has also been released. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Barnaby Clay, it was filmed at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles during the intimate 25th anniversary theatre run and is currently streaming exclusively via the Criterion Channel. The film will also be screened in select cinemas across the US, UK, Mexico, Australia and Japan, paired with a film of the band's choosing. 

Clay said: "I wanted to create a film that not only captured the live performance but also felt close to the spirit of what the band was going for with their shows; something delicate and dream-like, like a precious memory, timeless, emotionally charged and shrouded in mystery."

Karen O added: "Barney Clay has made a stunning film of the live performance that takes you there in the moment with us in the most heavenly way. Thanks to all the fans in attendance who’s frequency lives on this record, and thanks to the fans who continue to make our music possible. Thanks also to David Lynch for his everything. His passing came a month before we began this journey and the performance begins with an ode to his legacy."

Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their most recent album, and their first in almost a decade, 'Cool It Down', in 2022. Earlier this year, Karen O featured on The Avalanches' single Blue Shadows, taken from their upcoming fourth album, 'No Bad Memories', due out next month.
