The first instalment of footage from the upcoming concert film Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band: Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour (Philadelphia Freedom Cut) has been unveiled.
Capturing the final show of Springsteen's 2026 US tour at Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena on May 30, the first preview of the Chris Hilson and Thom Zimny-directed film features the opening seven songs: a cover of The Temptations' War, Born in the U.S.A., Death To My Hometown, The Clash's Clampdown, No Surrender, Darkness On The Edge of Town and Streets Of Minneapolis.
Former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who joined the band on stage throughout the tour, appears on the first four songs. In a statement, Springsteen said:
"I’m thrilled to be releasing our final show from the ‘Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour’ — recorded in the birthplace of American freedom, Philadelphia, USA. On the tour, we rocked the house from one end of the country to the other and, while we were at it, we spoke up everywhere in defense of our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our sacred democracy — which are under attack by a lawless President and his regime. It’s all captured on our Philadelphia Freedom Cut — hope you enjoy it."
Shot in full, the rest of the 27-song set will be released in three more in-sequence instalments throughout the rest of the year. Check out the first batch of songs, released in memory of rock writer and Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh, alongside a trailer for the film below.
Springsteen is set to make a special appearance at the Morello-curated Power To The People festival at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 3.
His most recent album of original material is 2020's 'Letter To You', which was followed by 2022’s 'Only The Strong Survive', a collection of soul classics, though more recently he shared a cover of A Rainy Night In Soho for the upcoming Shane MacGowan tribute album, '20th Century Paddy - The Songs of Shane MacGowan'.
Last year, he released 'Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition', a deluxe version of his 1982 landmark album 'Nebraska', as well as 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' and a live EP, 'Land of Hope & Dreams', which captured songs from his performance at Manchester's Co-Op Live arena in May 2024.
