Don McLean has scheduled his final UK and Ireland shows for spring 2027.
The legendary singer-songwriter, known for classics such as American Pie and Vincent, and one of the last remaining links to New York's iconic '60s Greenwich Village folk scene, will perform in Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Gateshead and London, where he'll conclude the run at the Royal Albert Hall on May 22.
McLean has said that the eight-date run, billed as The Farewell Tour, will be his last performances on these shores. His London show brings his career full circle, having first performed at the Royal Albert Hall in 1972 shortly after he topped the UK charts with American Pie. He said:
"I love these audiences. They have kept me going for 55 years and given me a career I could not have had anywhere else. A troubadour has to make his farewells somewhere, and I would rather choose the place myself. The Albert Hall was the first room that ever felt like it belonged to me, and it seems right that it should be the last."
Tickets for all dates except London go on general sale at 10am on Friday (September 18), with the Royal Albert Hall concert on sale from 10am on October 2.
The shows will follow the North American leg of the tour, which continues with dates this fall, alongside McLean's return to Australia next month, where he'll celebrate the 55th anniversary of American Pie.
He released his latest studio album, 'American Boys', in 2024, following which he put out a number of live LPs.
