Them Crooked Vultures Start Work On Second Album

The most talked about band of 2009, supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, have started work on their second album.

The age of the supergroup seems to have returned. Whether it be the recession, a lull in guitar music or simply just a trend in rock hierarchy. Whatever the reason may be, it has brought about the arrival of such groups as Them Crooked Vultures and that to me can only be a good thing.

Releasing their hugely anticipated debut album at the end of last year, Them Crooked Vultures were a force to be reckoned with. Uniting the music of Nirvana, Queens Of The Stone Age and Led Zeppelin, the band’s sound was always going to be special.

Touring to huge accalim, everyone was expecting that such a high profile project would be a one off. However speaking in a new interview frontman Josh Homme has revealed that work has already begun on the trio’s second offering.

"Hope so yeah, there isn't a reason not to" he said, before adding: "We love playing in this (band). We have such a good time together and it's fun and it feels like we're obligated to risk and challenge ourselves" he revealed. "It's such a rewarding risk to take you know, it's like high tension wire."

Them Crooked Vultures arrived on the scene last year with a series of stunning secret shows before announcing a full tour. Drummer Dave Grohl explained to BBC 6Music the thrill of playing with the supergroup. "As we've done these shows I see the audiences and how excited they get" he said. "If we go off in to some crazy jam that goes on for 10 minutes too long, you see the audience as it resolves into this finale. When you finally get there and you see people get goose bumps, you finally tie it up in a bow and go 'bam.' People just go 'wow' and it's great."

The drummer also added that the second album will be louder than the debut. If that’s possible.
