AC/DC Frontman Slams Bono's Public Charity Work

Hard rockers AC/DC have recently spoken out to the Australian press, slating U2 singer Bono for publicing his charity work.

Recognised as one of the most divisive figures in rock music. The U2 frontman can fill stadiums, and entertain thousands with the band’s stunning vast back catalogue. However, also well known for his publicised charity work, this has often led to him being a figure of fun. The un-elected Prime Minister Of Rock, Bono, has recently been on the recieving end of some harsh words from Australian rock legends AC/DC.

A band that are of course no strangers to the world of stadium rock, AC/DC are currently working hard on the Australian leg of their world tour. Supporting their back to basics new album ‘Black Ice’, AC/DC have played some massive homeland concerts. Speaking to the press recently, Gateshead born frontman Brian Johnson spoke out about his opinion on Bono’s attitude to charity work. The singer slammed the Irish musician.

Speaking to the Melbourne newspaper, Herald Sun, he said: "When I was a working man I didn't want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa." He continued, "I'm sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done. It just makes me angry. I become all tyrannical."

After the initial tongue-lashing, Brian Johnson referred to the Live Aid concert. "Do a charity gig, fair enough, but not on worldwide television," he said. AC/DC were actually given a slot to perform at the Live Aid concert but turned it down. "I do it myself, I don't tell everybody I'm doing it," Johnson said. "I don't tell everybody they should give money - they can't afford it."

Instead of performing at the charity concert AC/DC preferred instead to give money and promote causes in their own fashion.
