Brighton three-piece Esben and the Witch formed in 2008, releasing the ‘33’ EP and a 7” single before signing with US label Matador, home at one time or another to Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Savages and Kurt Vile among others.
Their debut album, ‘Violet Cries’, was released in January 2011 and followed a spot on the shortlist for the BBC’s ‘Sound Of’ prize.
They subsequently toured the record, including US dates with Foals, before following it up with ‘Wash the Sins Not Only the Face’ in 2013. The following year, they launched a Pledge Music campaign to record its follow up with noted producer Steve Albini.
In addition, they will play Latitude and Supernormal this summer, in addition to a headline show at London’s Oslo.
