Broadway's hit musical, Hamilton, tells the story of little known US founding father Alexander Hamilton through music that draws heavily from hip hop, R&B, pop and soul, as well as the more traditional-style show tunes.

The show premiered at the Public Theater in New York City, starring Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, where it sold-out month after month. The musical won eight Drama Desk Awards, before opening on Broadway in 2015. At the 70th Tony Awards, Hamilton received a record-breaking 16 nominations and won 11 awards, including Best Musical, as well as the coveted 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 2020, a movie version of the Broadway production was released via Disney.
