Jake Evans is a British singer, songwriter and musician from Manchester.

Starting his music career in 2005, he was a member of Rambo & Leroy, with Matt Evans, and Ash Earlam. In 2008 he joined Bad Lieutenant, an alternative rock band formed by New Order members Bernard Sumner and Phil Cunningham. The group released one album, ‘Never Cry Another Tear’, in 2009. He released his debut album, ‘Day One’, and supported New Order on tour.

Glorious !

Chester Alexanders on March 5 2016

If there is any justice in the world Jake Evans will be the next big thing, which will be a shame because it may mean that he no longer plays small venues like Alexanders in Chester.

The venue was a bar in the centre of Chester, probably holds 150-200 people but there were only about 50-60 lucky souls here tonight to witness this great artist.

Support band Valve came on about 9 and were surprisingly good - shades of Pink Floyd in some of their material, during this time Jake was at the bar - happy to chat with the crowd and sign autographs.

When he took to the stage the atmosphere was electric. The current album, Day One, was given a full airing plus a new song - feed the fire.

Throughout the musicianship was superb, the singing spot on, and was backed up by a superb drummer and bass player.

Final song of the set was the awesome "easy on my Soul" which has a gospel choir on the album, but you never felt anything was missing from the live performance. On the contrary I could see this track becoming Jake's "stairway to heaven" - it's a real show stopper and deserves wider recognition.

After the show Jake again chatted with some of the audience and came across as a thoroughly decent bloke - let's hope he keeps that into megastardom.
