The John Butler Trio is an Australian funk and alternative band hailing from Fremantle. Formed in 1998 by John Butler - the only consistent member - it also currently includes Byron Luiters and Grant Gerathy, though the line-up has changed a handful of times over the years. Despite the line-up shuffles, Butler and co. have managed to carve a successful career and pick up multiple awards.
Butler released their eponymous debut album back in 1998 independently, and soon found recognition locally. It wasn’t long before they were in the charts, and in 2004 they managed to top them with third effort ‘Sunrise Over the Sea’ - a record which is now 5x platinum. Their latest record, 'Flesh & Blood', is out now.
John Butler Trio are currently readying their next record, 'Home', which is due for release on September 28, 2018. In support, they will play UK and Ireland dates this autumn, followed by a tour of North America, and then a trio of Australian dates in February 2019, co-headline with Missy Higgins. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
The John Butler Trio performed to a packed audience who stood up all night for every song! His delivery of Oceans was the highlight of the evening. The media crew displayed a close up on the big screen of John's hands while he played this song. Nothing short of phenomenal! He touched and strummed that guitar like he was making love to it. If you pass up a chance to see this band perform in person, you are missing out on one of the most memorable evenings of your life!
