Julia Carin Cavazos, aka Julia Michaels, is a singer and songwriter from Davenport, Iowa. Born in 1993, her career began writing tracks sung by Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Hailee Steinfeld, and Gwen Stefani.

Michaels has been releasing her own singles, collaborations and EPs since 2017, debuting with her first solo single, Issues, which picked up a 2018 Grammy Award nomination for Song of the Year. She was also nominated in the Best New Artist category. She put out her fourth EP, titled 'Inner Monologue Part 1', in January 2019.

In autumn 2018, Michaels toured North America as the opening act on Maroon 5's Red Pill Blues Tour. In early 2019 she opened for Keith Urban on the Australian leg of his 'Graffiti U' World Tour.
