Katie Melua, real name Ketevan Melua, is a Georgian-born, British singer-songwriter and musician, currently based in London.
Starting her music career in 2003 with her debut album,‘Call Off the Search’, the album reached #1 in the UK Albums Chart and featured the single, The Closest Thing to Crazy, which reached #10 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2005, she released her second album, ‘Piece by Piece’, again the album hit #1 in the UK Albums Chart, and the single, Nine Million Bicycles, reached #3 in the UK Singles Chart. She released, ‘Pictures in 2007, which hit #2 in the UK Albums Chart, ‘The House’, came out in 2010, and reached #4 in the charts, ‘Secret Symphony’, came out in 2012, which came in at #8, and her last album, ‘Ketevan’, came out in 2013, and reached #6 in the chart. In 2006 she was named the United Kingdom’s best-selling female artist, and Europe’s highest selling European female artist.
2013 saw Melua performing a one-off gig in London’s Roundhouse, in celebration of her 10th anniversary.
She returns to the stage in 2018 with a UK November and December tour with the Gori Women's Choir, after the success of a similar tour in 2016.
