Lee Scratch Perry was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, musician and legendary producer hailing from Kendal.

Born in 1936, he is recognised as a pioneer of dub music and a developer of reggae, having worked with the likes of Bob Marley, among other iconic names. Over the years, Perry has released countless records, singles, and collections both as a solo artist and alongside his band The Upsetters, and he has collaborated with some of reggae, ska, and dub’s biggest names too.

Lee Scratch Perry died on August 29, 2021 aged 85.
