Moaning are a post punk trio from LA, comprised of Sean Solomon, Pascal Stevenson, and Andrew MacKelvie. They aim to force pain up against pleasure, using the complexity of personal heart break to inform their conflicted sound. The band eventually landed on the apt moniker Moaning, admiring the ambiguity the name held, and hoping to reference both an intimate wail and an anguished scream.
The band released their first single, Don't Go, in 2017, and followed this with their debut self titled album in March 2018 (which was made available on streaming a few days early!).
Alongside the record, the band have announced headline shows in London, Glasgow, Bristol and Margate between June 12 and 17. Prior to these dates, Moaning will tour Europe and North America later this year, and will support Metz on their upcoming spring UK tour. They will also play shows with Preoccupations, Froth, Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Bedroom and Ed Schrader's Music Beat. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.

In the promo video for The Same, Moaning frontman Sean Solomon wears a playful denim-cotton cap. It’s the type of cap that one might find in an American Apparel or Urban Outfitters: ‘90s retro with a dash of the university stoner about it. It’s sartorially direct and jaunty, yet it belies a certain foggy introversion. In many ways, that cap epitomises Moaning’s eponymous debut album.
