MONO are a Japanese post-rock band from Tokyo, consisting of Takaakira Goto, Hideki Suematsu, Tamaki Kunishi and Yasunori Takada.
Formed in 1999, the band released their debut album, ‘Under the Pipal Tree’, via Tzadik, in 2001, followed by ‘One Step More and You Die’ in 2002, with Arena Rock Recording Co. The band signed to Temporary Residence Limited and released ‘Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined’ in 2004, ‘You Are There’ in 2006, ‘Hymn to the Immortal Wind’ in 2009, and ‘For My Parents’ in 2012. This was followed by 2016's 'Requiem for Hell'.
Following a few years of touring, Mono are now readying their next record, 'Nowhere Now Here', for a January 2019 release.
