Owen is the solo project of American indie rock star Mike Kinsella from Chicago, Illinois. He is best known as a member of bands such as Cap’n Jazz, American Football and Owls, as well as his own solo career.
Starting his music career in 1989, at the age of 12, as a member of his brother Tim Kinsella’s band Cap'n Jazz, he went on to form American Football, play in Joan Of Arc, was a member of Owls and has also performed in Their / They're / There with Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It.
In 2001 he started making music under the name Owen, releasing an eponymous debut album that year. His second album, ‘No Good For No One Now’, followed in 2002, with ‘I Do Perceive’, coming out in 2005, ‘At Home With Owen’, in 2006, ‘New Leaves’ in 2009, ‘Ghost Town’, in 2011, and ‘L'ami du Peuple’, in 2013. He released his latest album, ‘King Of Whys’, in July 2016 via Witichita and Polyvinyl.
