Rob Lowe is an actor from Charlottesville, Virginia.
His acting debut kicked off when he was just 15, in the short-lived sitcom A New Kind of Family (1979-1980). Following numerous television roles in the early 1980s, he came to prominence as a teen idol with roles in films like The Outsiders in 1983, The Hotel New Hampshire and Oxford Blues a year later, St. Elmo's Fire in 1985, About Last Night... in 1986, and Square Dance the following year. The success of these films established him as a Hollywood star.
Lowe's career saw a resurgence in the 2000s with him starring in The West Wing, Brothers and Sisters, Parks and Recreation, Code Blakc and more. In 2018 he made his directorial debut with the TV film The Bad Seed.
Over the years Lowe has received several awards and accolades, includig a Primetime Emmy nomination, six Golden Globe nominations, and won tow Screen Actors Guild Awards.
