The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) governs rugby union in Scotland, as the second oldest Rugby Union, having been founded in 1873. It oversees the national league system, known as the Scottish League Championship, and the Scottish National teams.

The Scotland national rugby team represents Scotland in international rugby union. They participate annually in the Six Nations Championship, along with the Rugby World Cup, which takes place every four years.

The history of the team extends back to 1871, when they played their first official test match, winning 1–0 against England. They maintain a strong rivalry with the English national team, with both teams competing annually for the Calcutta Cup as part of the Six Nations Championship.

Scotland traditionally wear navy blue jerseys, white shorts and blue socks. They play their home matches at Murrayfield Stadium.
