Shakespears Sister are a pop-rock band formed in 1988 by Siobhan Fahey, a former member of Bananarama. Initially a solo act, Fahey was joined by Marcella Detroit in 1989.
The project became a duo, and went on to release two Top Ten albums, 'Sacred Heart' and 'Hormonally Yours', and a string of Top 40 singles, including the 1992 hit Stay, which - ahem - stayed at the number spot for eight weeks! 1993 was a seminal year for the band - they won an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contemporary Song Collection, as well as four other nominations in various categories. It was also the year that Detroit left the band, leaving Fahey as the sole member once again until the project disbanded altogether in 1996. Over a decade later, Fahey revived the band in 2009, releasing 'Songs From The Red Room' that year, and 'Cosmic Dancer' in 2011. Shakespears Sister will reunite for a UK tour in 2019 - dubbed the Ride Again tour, starring both Marcella Detroit and Siobhan Fahey.
