Miley Cyrus is an American actress, singer and songwriter hailing from Nashville, Tennessee. Cyrus is the daughter of American country music singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who boasts the record of owning the best-selling debut album of all time for a solo male artist - setting quite a high standard for Cyrus to follow.
But, Miley has wasted no time in attempting to impress her father, and has already blossomed into one of the world's biggest superstars - despite a touch of controversy here and there. Cyrus initially found fame as star of Hannah Montana, a Disney Channel television series, which saw her playing the role of a popstar with a double life as a school kid.
Miley found immense fame because of the show, and with a father like Billy Ray and a role playing a popstar, a future in music was inevitable. She signed a deal in 2007 and was creating music that accompanied her Hannah Montana lifestyle, but as we all know, you can't be a teenager forever, and Miley decided to break away from the sweet, goody-two-shoes image of Disney to become a singer in her own right.
In 2013, Miley officially turned from child star to pop icon, and - along with twerking - worked her way to the top of the charts and into headlines of news sites across the globe. Although it was her fourth record, 'Bangerz' was Cyrus' first chance to show us what she was really about, and its dance-influenced sound as turned into a superstar. She tours the world in 2014, hitting the UK in May - if you need tickets, check the dates and links below!

A few years back, country star Miley Cyrus reinvented herself as a chieftain of teen rebellion with the release of her fourth album, ‘Bangerz’. Miley 2.0 was a figurehead of neon vulgarity, a kind of Boudicca of sleaze-punk-pop.
