Shaku Kanneh-Mason MBE is a cellist from Nottingham, England.
In 2016, he was awarded the BBC Young Musician Award, becoming the first black musician to win the accolade since its launch in 1978. He also played at the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle on 19 May 2018. He often plays with his sister, Isata Kanneh-Mason, a pianist whose debut album, 'Romance', topped the UK Classical Charts in July 2019. Sheku and Isata Kanneh Mason were due to tour the UK throughout summer 2020 as part of Utilita’s Live From The Drive-In concert series, but the whole series has been cancelled by promoters due to fears over potential localised lockdowns in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
