Wendy James is a British singer and songwriter, best known for being the lead singer in pop rock band Transvision Vamp.

After forming the band with Nick Christian Sayer, Dave Parsons, Tex Axile and Pol Burton, they signed to MCA in 1986. They released three albums, ‘Pop Art’ in 1988, ‘Velveteen’ in 1989, and ‘Little Magnets Versus the Bubble of Babble’ in 1991, as well as having hits such as Tell That Girl to Shut Up, I Want Your Love, Baby I Don't Care, I Want Your Love, and Baby I Don't Care.

When Transvision Vamp split up, James undertook a solo career, and released the album, ‘Now Ain't the Time for Your Tears’ in 1993. In 2004, she formed the band Racine, who released two albums, ‘Number One’ and ‘Racine Volume 2’. After the members of Racine went their separate ways James released a second solo album, ‘I Came Here to Blow Minds’ in 2011.
