ABC are an English new wave band from Sheffield, consisting of founding member Martin Fry, alongside Matt Backer, Rob Hughes, Andy Carr, Lily Gonzalez, Steve Kelly and Richard Brook.
Founded in 1980, the band released their debut album, ‘Lexicon Of Love’, in 1982, which hit #1 in the UK Albums Chart and included hits such as Poison Arrow and The Look of Love.The band released their second album, ‘Beauty Stab’ in 1983, followed by ‘How to Be a...Zillionaire!’ in 1985. After a hiatus Fry and founding member Mark White reformed the band as a duo and released ‘Alphabet City’ in 1987, ‘Up’, in 1989, and ‘Abracadabra’ in 1991. After a further hiatus is Fry reformed the band with a new lineup and released ‘Skyscraping’ in 1997 and ‘Traffic’ in 2008. The band released their latest album, ‘The Lexicon of Love II’, in May 2016.
