Art Garfunkel is an American folk-rock and pop singer, songwriter and musician from New York City, New York.
Starting his career in 1956, when he formed the duo, Tom & Jerry, with Paul Simon, and released the single, Hey, Schoolgirl in 1957. He released a few singles as a solo artist, before the duo reformed as Simon & Garfunkel in 1963, and released their debut album, ‘Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.’ on Columbia Records in 1964. They went on to release ‘Sounds of Silence’ and ‘Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme’ in 1966, ‘Bookends’ in 1968, and ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ in 1970, before splitting that year.
Garfunkel went on to form a solo career, notching up #1 singles, countless Top 20 hits, six Grammy awards, a People’s Choice Award, and even a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Paul Simon. He released his debut solo album, ‘Angel Clare’ in 1973, followed by ‘Breakaway’ in 1975, ‘Watermark’ in 1977, and ‘Fate For Breakfast’ in 1978, which included the song Bright Eyes. ‘Scissors Cut’ in 1981, ‘The Animals' Christmas’ in 1986, ‘Lefty’ in 1988, ‘Songs from a Parent to a Child’ in 1997, ‘Everything Waits to Be Noticed’ in 2002 and ‘Some Enchanted Evening’, in 2007.
Art Garfunkel has performed across the world in his time, and was putting on massive shows from as far back as the 70’s, playing places such as Central Park, Madison Square Garden, and the Beacon Theatre in his hometown alone. In September 2014, he made his long-awaited return to the UK with a four-date series of shows.Exactly a year on, he brought his 'An Intimate Night With Art Garfunkel' shows across the country.
