Baaba Maal is a Senegalese singer and guitarist. He is well known in Africa and internationally, and is one of Senegal's most famous musicians. In addition to acoustic guitar, he also plays percussion. Baaba sings primarily in Pulaar and is the foremost promoter of the traditions of the Pulaar-speaking people of Senegal.
He has released many albums, both for independent and major labels, since 1989. The latest of which was 2016's 'The Traveller', recorded with Johan Hugo from The Very Best and Winston Marshall of Mumford & Sons.
Now, Baaba Mal has announced a London show at Union Chapel this April, under the heading 'Travelling Light'.
