Belly, real name Ahmad Balshe, is a Palestinian-Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Growing up, he recalls lessons in his childhood in the Middle East that shaped his outlook forever, themes of loyaly and family that still inspire his music today.
After high school, he released a string of underground mixtapes whilst in Canada, culminating on his 2007 full-length debut, 'The Revolution'. The album went Gold in Canada and scored a Much Music Video Award. He kept releasing mixtapes, while carving out a niche as an in-demand songwriter.
He was soon introduced to The Weeknd in 2011, a frendship which turned into creative partnership. After penning “Love Me Harder” for Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, he co-wrote six tracks from the chart-dominating triple-platinum 2015 epic, 'Beauty Behind The Madness', including Earned It, used on the film Fifty Shades of Grey, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song and stole the GRAMMY Award for Best R&B Performance. Together, they went on to craft 6-Inch for Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
He signed to Roc Nation and unveiled his first album, 2015’s Up For Days, on which the single Might Not went to #1 at Rhythm Radio and properly introduced Belly to North American audiences. It paved the way for 2016’s 'Another Day In Paradise', featuring collaborations with Travis Scott, Kehlani, B-Real, and Lil Wayne.
His latest album, 'Mumble Rap', came out in October 2016, and he followed this up with the new single Maintain in April 2018.
