Wild Beasts - Smother (Album Review)

My personal anticipation for Wild Beasts’  third long player has actually been, to my surprise, minimal. After being more than impressed with their debut 'Limbo, Panto' and then being blown away, along with everyone else, by 'Two Dancers', at the start of 2011 I pinpointed 'Smother' as an album to get excited for. But if I’m honest, I sort of forgot all about. I never got around to listening to 'Albatross' when it was first posted to the net, which, in hindsight, I’m pretty happy about. Missing those singles and coming to an album totally in the dark is always the best way to experience music. So, let me tell you now, 'Smother' is all kinds brilliant.

Lou Reed has just announced that he will release a live DVD of his historic performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2009. The forthcoming European tour in July features virtually the same band as showcased on the live DVD. Lady Gaga To Play Secret Intimate Gig in London on Thursday

Lady Gaga will play an low-key intimate show in London tomorrow night.

The secret gig will be a warm-up for Gaga's headline performance at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Cheshire on the weekend. The special show will see Lady Gaga showcase material from her forthcoming new album, and is being put on by Belvedere Vodka at Annabel's private members club in Mayfair.
