U2 Preview New Tracks At Comeback Concert

Last Friday, August 6th, saw U2 return to the live stage for the first time since a back injury to singer Bono forced the group to postpone their North American leg of their world tour.

Playing their first gig in two months at Turin’s Olympic Stadium in Italy last Friday, the Irish rockers played a greatest hits set as well as well as showcasing three brand new songs ‘Return Of The Stingray Guitar’, ‘North Star’ and ‘Glastonbury’.

Before Bono’s injury forced the group to pull out of the line-up, U2 were confirmed to play at last June’s 40th Anniversary Glastonbury festival with the new ‘Glastonbury’ track supposedly inspired by the event. The song containing the words, “There are some things you just can’t control; some times you just can’t let go.”

However, Bono appeared to be back to his normal self again having recovered from his emergency back surgery he underwent in May, belting out new-era fan favourites such as ‘Magnificent, ‘Elevation’ and concert opener ’Beautiful Day’.

U2 will now continue on the road through Europe as they proceed with their 360degree world tour. The group will then return to the United States in the autumn.

In other news concerning the band, U2 are currently being hotly tipped as one of next year’s Glastonbury headliners. Glasto-guru Eavis has told the press that he has already confirmed two acts for next year’s bash – however he won’t be revealing anymore details for a long while yet.
