Paramore have been nominated for Best Alternative Act at this years MTV EMA awards ahead of their UK & Ireland tour this November.
The Tennessee band are up against some heavy competition in the same category as bands like Arcade Fire, Gorillaz, Gossip and Vampire Weekend.
B.o.B., who will be special guest for Paramore this November, has also been nominated at the EMAs in the Best New Act and Best Push Act categories. B.o.B. shot up the charts earlier this year with two UK number 1 singles 'Nothin On You' and 'Airplanes', featuring Paramore’s own Hayley Williams.
Paramores third album brand new eyes went straight to the top of the UK charts on its release last September. The record also went to number one in Ireland and Australia and topped the US Billboard Alternative and Rock Albums charts reaching Gold status.
The big nominees at this years MTV EMA's are Lady Gaga and Katy Perry who each got 5 nods. Gaga and Perry will go head to head in four of the five categories they’re nominated in (Best Pop, Best Female, Best Song and Best Video).
Other natable nominations include Eminem receiving four nods, cementing his reclaimed hip-hop crown, and rock bands Thirty Seconds to Mars and Muse’s three nominations apiece. Best New Act looks like it could be one of the toughest races of the night, with shining new stars Justin Bieber, Jason Derülo, Ke$ha and Plan B joining B.o.B in battling it out for the silver trophy.
The MTV EMA's will be taking place at Madrid's Caja Magica on 7th November, 2010.
